Combining the two well-established scientific fields of chemistry and biochemistry resulted in bioorganic chemistry. It's a constantly growing scientific discipline that focuses on using chemical approaches to investigate biological processes. While the terms biochemistry and bioorganic chemistry are sometimes used interchangeably, the latter word refers to the field that focuses on the biological elements of organic chemistry. Organic biochemistry aims to broaden organic-chemical studies into biology (for example, kinetics, structures, and synthesis). It is used to investigate the interactions, reactivity, and structure of biologically important chemical molecules. Biochemistry, on the other hand, employs chemistry to improve our understanding of biological processes. With the study of metalloenzymes and cofactors, there is some crossover between the two. Bioorganic chemistry has also been performed to explore the functions of carbohydrates and peptides, as well as to learn more about molecular recognition and biosynthesis. In the coming years, we can expect more important advances in the field of bioorganic chemistry, as well as an expansion of the applications that it can be applied to.
